UCC Cathedral of Hope in Dallas Receives Financial Gift to Build New Kitchen, School Classrooms for Needy Community in Reynosa, Mexico
In a night of celebration, Cathedral of Hope of the United Church of Christ (UCC) raised nearly $20,000 for its Little Blue Schools mission project in Reynosa, Mexico.
DALLAS, TX, September 28, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In a night of celebration, Cathedral of Hope of the United Church of Christ (UCC) raised nearly $20,000 for its Little Blue Schools mission project in Reynosa, Mexico.
The funds, which include a substantial gift from Skyeward Bound Ranch, a non-profit charitable organization for special needs and terminally ill children, will be used to construct a new kitchen and a school classroom in the Nopalera area of Reynosa, a community of poor residents living along a drainage canal where there is no running water or electricity.

The gift, announced at a Cathedral of Hope UCC fundraising concert on Sunday evening for Little Blue Schools, will enable mission group volunteers from the Cathedral to continue their efforts to improve the lives of needy children and families that first began 10 years ago.
The first project built by Cathedral of Hope UCC volunteers was a new 13 x 20 foot tin roof one-room building to serve as a school and a community center. The building was painted bright blue with white trim. Since then, 10 additional building projects, such as restroom facilities and meeting rooms, have been completed in Reynosa.
The mission work in Reynosa is now referred to as EURThe Little Blue SchoolsEUR project and is administered by the CoH Miracles in Mission Ministry.
