WellMed Among 'Top Private Companies' Again
For the fourth year in a row, WellMed Medical Management Inc. has been named one of the Top Private Companies in the region by the San Antonio Business Journal, ranking No. 5 on this year's listing.

SAN ANTONIO, TX, February 26, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- For the fourth year in a row, WellMed Medical Management Inc. has been named one of the Top Private Companies in the region by the San Antonio Business Journal.

It's the fourth consecutive year that WellMed has been named to the list, published in the February 18 issue of the San Antonio Business Journal. The Top Private Companies recognition honors the contributions that local private companies have made to the economy in the Greater San Antonio region. WellMed ranked No. 5 on this year's list of 50 companies.

Founded in August 1990 as a single clinic in the San Antonio Medical Center, WellMed has grown to become a diversified healthcare company operating in Texas and Florida with more than 1,600 employees, most based in the Alamo City. Company founder Dr. George Rapier III leads WellMed as Chairman and CEO.

The company specializes in senior care. Tens of thousands of WellMed senior patients live longer than the 65 and older population across the state, thanks largely to the WellMed Care Model focusing on preventive medicine, according to federally funded research recently published in the Journal of Ambulatory Care.
