WellMed Ranks No. 5 On San Antonio's Top 50 Private Companies List for 2010
Diversified Healthcare Company Honored For Third Consecutive Year

SAN ANTONIO, TX, February 19, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- WellMed Medical Management climbed to No. 5 on the annual Top 50 Private Companies ranking published in the most recent San Antonio Business Journal.

WellMed was top-ranked company from the healthcare industry or medical field. This is the third consecutive year WellMed has been listed among the region's Top 50 Private Companies. WellMed ranked 18th in 2008 and 8th in 2009.

Last month, the San Antonio Business Journal listed WellMed as the largest medical group in the region with 28 clinics in Texas and Florida. Only UT Medicine San Antonio, made up of specialists and primary care physicians from the faculty of the UT Health Science Center School of Medicine, employs more physicians.

WellMed ranked just behind auto dealership powerhouse McCombs Enterprises among businesses with $300 million to $1 billion in revenue. Three companies with more than $1 billion in revenue topped the list - financial services giant USAA, beverage distributor Republic National Distributing and convenience store and wholesale petroleum seller TETCO.

WellMed, founded 20 years ago by Chairman and CEO Dr. George M. Rapier III, is one of the fastest-growing private companies in the nation.
